Project Update: Monday, April 4, 2017

This week and last week, the contractor has been removing the old bridge abutment walls, and installing the new substructure. This work is in preparation of placing the new bridge beams.

As a reminder, there are no right turns permitted from Tanglewood Drive onto Chestnut Avenue.

Project Update: Friday, March 24, 2017

Crews will be removing the beams from the north half of the Chestnut Avenue bridge, which is undergoing demolition and replacement.

Because placement of a large crane on the roadway is necessary, traffic that is now reduced to one lane of travel for both directions will be intermittently stopped and delayed from about 5 minutes while the beams are removed and placed on trucks to be hauled away.

The work is expected to be take place between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Monday, March 27.

Project Update: Wednesday, March 15, 2017

Work on Chestnut Avenue bridge was delayed by snow the past two days, however the construction site is up and running today. The next several days will involve removing part of the old substructure and constructing the new substructure for the north side of the bridge. Equipment and trucks will be traveling in and out of the work zone, please proceed with caution. Thanks for your patience.

Project Update: Thursday, March 2, 2017

This week has included work locating existing utilities as well as removing the existing bridge deck. Crane assembly began today on the north side of Chestnut Avenue bridge. Expect a high increase in the noise and vibration levels beginning Friday and continuing into next week, as the while the contractor installs the temporary soil retention system. Similar to last year, these sheet piles will enable to contractor to expose the existing abutment footing and install the proposed drill shafts for the new bridge.  The contractor will be monitoring the noise and vibration levels to assure that they stay within the established standards.

Project Update: Tuesday, February 21, 2017

The construction of the north side of Chestnut Bridge will begin Monday, February 27, 2017. From Monday until bridge completion, the temporary traffic signal will be utilized. Once the temporary signal is turned back on, traffic will use into the one-lane Chestnut over the bridge, similar to last year. Please consider taking an alternative route Monday, February 27 since delays will be expected. Proceed with caution through the work zone as construction vehicles and workers will be present.

Project Update: Monday, November 14, 2016

The project is in the final stages for the season. The south side of the bridge is scheduled to open up the week of Thanksgiving.

This past week, repaving has been completed and the winter traffic configuration has begun to be installed. The final concrete for the wall across the bridge was poured today. Throughout the next several weeks, final details including water main, fence, sidewalk and landscaping will be worked on.

Please continue to be cautious through the area and watch for an update on the traffic configuration for the winter months.
